Even more Tuesday options

Bunbury Herald

Seven new art classes have been introduced at the Stirling Street Arts Centre, creating a buzz as the centre appeals to a wider audience.

The Tuesday Club has been operating for 40 years, but in 2011 the centre has revamped the classes to include lead-lighting, mosaics, felting, Japanese art, modern craft jewellery, and patchwork.

‘‘It’s a fun arts and crafts social day,’’ centre administration officer Julie Christian said.

Mrs Christian said the art groups welcomed beginners and advanced artists and there were opportunities to exhibit works throughout the year.

‘‘Members’ skills improve and they become very involved,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s a great stepping stone into the arts.’’

In October, the centre hosts its major show, the Fire, Fibre, Fine Arts exhibition, which offers artists the opportunity of exposure.

There is a child-minding service at the centre during the classes to offer mothers an avenue to express themselves.

‘‘There is no need to sit at home when you can come and enjoy the rts in a social environment,’’ Mrs Christian said.

Artists Pam Teede, Nigel Snelling, Dawn Mathieson, Barb Stuart, Jean Braund, Davida Palmer and Eileen Mounsey will be hosting the new classes at the centre.
