Extravaganza for a hometown crowd
Friday night at the Prince of Wales Hotel will be bigger than Christmas.
Descending on Bunbury for a Christmas Eve extravaganza, The Danny Haines Band, Louis and the Honkytonk and Indiana are poised to deliver their own brand of Christmas cheer.
Masterminded by Louis and the Honkytonk frontman Leigh Gardiner, the three-strong lineup boasts what are some of Bunbury’s best homegrown bands.
Not only featuring the man himself, The Danny Haines Band will showcase some of Australia’s best touring musicians, playing for acts such as Eskimo Joe.
Haines has been working on a new album featuring the drummer for Sneaky Sound System and will be unveiling many of the songs this weekend.
Fresh from packing the Prince last month for their EP launch, indie trio Indiana will take to the stage to deliver their unique blend of blues infused rock.
Chalking 2010 up as another big year, Louis and the Honkytonk released a new EP and supported popular Perth bands Boom! Bap! Pow!, The Sunshine Brothers and Emperors.
This will be their last show before they go into hibernation pending the release of their second EP early next year.
Promising a Christmas Eve to remember, frontman Gardiner said the performance would a Christmas homecoming for the fivesome.
‘‘Our guitarist is rather keen on doing a Christmas song revamped, by a pop star I’m not going to share the name of because it’s too embarrassing, but we’ll see how it goes,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s nice to think that we are going to have three bands that are from Bunbury and creating their own music.’’
