Fire guts Carey Park house

Surveying a scene of devastation, gas utilisation inspector Paul Ramsey stands in the remains of a Carey Park home, gutted by flames on Saturday morning.

Firefighters said the Doolan Street house was not fitted with smoke alarms.

No one was hurt and the Fire and Emergency Services Authority estimates the damage billto be $250,000.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious and it is not known if the family are insured.
