Pan-o-rama Catering owner Don Hancey will once again feature in this year’s Chefs’ Long Table Lunch on Sunday at Bunbury’s Pat Usher Foreshore.

Mr Hancey started as a chef at the Bussell Motor Hotel as a 16-year-old and has since grown to become of the most respected chefs in the State.

He has been involved with the lunch since its inception and is looking forward to joining 10 other top chefs in the ninth annual Chefs’ Long Table Lunch, sponsored by the Bunbury Herald and South Western Times.

‘‘It’s always a tremendous buzz,’’ Mr Hancey said.

‘‘I get inspired by working with the Chefs’ Long Table Lunch management who are all volunteers.

‘‘It’s certainly a collective energy that goes into the day.’’

Mr Hancey said he was still a Bunbury boy at heart and loved giving something back to the South West community.

He will be bringing his three giant frying pans from Perth, weighing 74kg each, and will perform ‘‘Food Theatre’’ on the day.

Chefs’ Long Table Lunch media and marketing coordinator Genine Unsworth said volunteers were still needed for the event and were vital to the success of the lunch.

‘‘Volunteering provides a great opportunity to enjoy the spirit of the day and contribute to helping the lunch raise thousands of dollars for the South West community,’’ Ms Unsworth said.

‘‘Each year we are so grateful to the dozens of people who offer to not only serve food and wine on the day, but assist behind the scenes with erecting the giant marquee, table setting and dishwashing.’’
