Force breaks through

Bunbury Forum Force’s run of bad luck in the State Premier League ended with a comprehensive 2-0 win over 10-man Armadale at Alfred Skeet Oval on Saturday.

“It is always a tough gig at Armadale but we went in determined and with a strong team effort, we did everything we needed to and it paid off,” coach Matt Lock said.

Midfielder Liam Hutchin-son found his feet, Danny Kane putting in a fine cameo in his return from suspension, Ryan Francis and Chris Blackburn were good up front and backs Olly McGee, Ryan Risdon, Jarred Mort and Ryan Montgomery proved impassable.

Armadale defender Billy Quinncroft’s red card early in the second half proved pivotal as Francis netted soon after before Blackburn sealed victory.

The first chance came after 12 minutes when Bright Ababio’s shot from the edge of the box was tipped around the post by keeper Cyril Sharrock, who repeated the feat a few minutes later to deny Francis.

The same pattern flowed into the second half, and when Quinncroft’s rash tackle on Blackburn drew a red card from referee David Bruce the writing was on the wall.
