Force climbs another rung

Bunbury made it back-to-back wins and eased itself away from the State Premier League drop zone after defeating Armadale 3-0 in Perth at the weekend.

The result allowed Bunbury to leapfrog their hosts into eighth place on the ladder, seven points clear of bottom team Western Knights.

The deadlock was broken in the 22nd minute when the visitors scored from a corner when the ball fell to Force skipper Steve Howson, who guided his shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Corners proved difficult for Armadale to deal with throughout the first half, but chances were at a premium and the home team was unable to convert anything, with the score remaining 1-0 at the long break.

The Force came out stronger after half-time and did not take long for them to score their second when Danny Kane made no mistake with a chance from outside the penalty area six minutes into the second half, a goal which visually deflated Armadale Aiden Savory finished off the scoring from the spot after referee Tim Mihovic deemed an Armadale defender had handled the ball inside the penalty area.

It was a reprieve for Savory, who had missed from six yards out and without a keeper in front of him just two minutes earlier when Jayden Prosser delivered a ball across the goal to Bright Ababio, who somehow managed to hit the post from two yards after sliding in. The ball then rebounded to Savory, who blasted his chance over the crossbar.

Armadale is now in danger of being relegated itself, with only nine more points available to it this season.
