Force pay penalty for miss

Bunbury Herald

Beware the wounded lion and that’s just what the Bunbury Forum Force encountered when they went on a Football West Cool Ridge Cup lion hunt in Perth on Saturday.

After several close calls the force needed to sharpen their attack and look for a little luck.

That deserted them at Grindleford Reserve when they lost 4-3 in extra time to Stirling Lions, missing a posse of players.

With the Lions up 4-3 at the end of the first half of extra time after four penalties had been awarded by referee Hugh Best, many at the ground were joking that another penalty would be awarded.

Their prophecies came true when Best pointed to the spot for a fifth time to give Bunbury a way back into the game with 10 mintues to play.

But Matt Lock sent his shot into the woodwork, handing Stirling a free passage through to the next round.

Bright Ababio got Bunbury’s first in the 55th minute while Lock scored from a penalty in the 75th minute.

In the 80th minute, Jon Brooks found the back of the net to score Bunbury’s third.
