Lovers of cinema and music are in for a treat on Saturday with a free screening of The Sapphires.

The Love Where You Live Summer Series will take over Picton Primary School in Glen Iris for its next outdoor cinema screening.

The City of Bunbury-run event is run in partnership with CinefestOz.

The film is about four indigenous singers who form a group and travel to Vietnam in 1968 to perform for the troops.

There will be activities on offer including lawn games, arts and crafts and a fundraising barbecue hosted by the South West Body Boarding Club. Guests to the drug and alcohol-free event should bring a rug or low chair to sit on.

The event starts at 4pm and finishes at 9pm. Food and drinks will be on sale.

Bunbury Mayor Gary Brennan said the Love Where You Live Summer Series encouraged the community to come together.

“It’s events such as these which reinvigorate a sense of belonging in the community, ” he said.
