Geoffrey chases up arrest
Bunbury police dog Geoffrey has helped make another arrest after a man led police on two separate car chases through Greater Bunbury on Saturday.
Police said items, including tools, were thrown from the vehicle during the chases.
A 37-year-old man allegedly failed to stop the car on the Australind Bypass at 12.20am before the first chase through East Bunbury and Carey Park.
This chase was aborted but about an hour later officers from South West Traffic saw the car in Dalyellup.
Police then gave chase until the car ran out of fuel.
The driver and his passenger, a 19-year-old man, then allegedly fled on foot.
The passenger was chased down by a police officer while the other man allegedly ran through shops in Daylellup and was seen jumping into bushland.
Geoffrey followed a scent for about 30m before he started barking at the edge of a water feature in the middle of a roundabout.
The driver was allegedly found lying on his back in the water.
He was arrested and was due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
It is understood the passenger was granted police bail.
