Geoffrey's doggedly fighting crime

Bunbury Herald

Bunbury police dog Geoffrey caught a man who had allegedly trespassed onto houses in Withers on Sunday.

Police said the man was allegedly seen entering vacant units on Whitely Place at 5pm

Geoffrey and his handler Const. Jake Carruthers were sent to the scene and found four of the units had been entered and two had been damaged.

Geoffrey picked up a scent and this led to Wilkerson Street where the man was arrested.

He has been charged with four counts of trespass and two counts of criminal damage.

The man was granted bail by police and will appear in the Bunbury Magistrate’s Court at a later date.

Acting Sen. Sgt Matt Leishman said there had been seven burglaries in the past week with four in Withers.

Sen. Sgt Leishman said people should review their home security of their houses following the burglaries.
