Giants road testing in Bunbury
The Stillwater Giants are no strangers to Bunbury.
The Perth rock band began their careers at Groovin’ the Moo as the Triple J Unearthed band.
“I think it was the first festival we ever played,” lead guitarist Tom Godden said.
“We have played in Bunbury a bunch of times. It is always fun coming back to Bunbury – the crowd is kind of crazy.
“Every time we go to Bunbury we are really stoked.”
So it is fair to say the boys from The Stillwater Giants will be stoked on Friday night when they headline Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre’s Out of the Box + Into the Cube event.
Godden told the Bunbury Herald the band will also play some new songs ahead of the release of their first album next year.
“We have been recording for our first album all year,” he said.
“It’s so cool, we have spent the last two years working on it. It’s been a slow process, but we chose to take our time on it.
“A lot of these songs we are road testing at the moment, we want to have them tried and tested live. The gig in Bunbury will be a bit of a road test.”
The Stillwater Giants were formed on the back of the friendships between the boys and in 2010 they became a legitimate touring band.
“We are all really good friends now,” Godden said.
“So touring and playing gigs now is really good fun because of our friendship.”
Godden has warned the Bunbury crowd though – they will see some weird costumes.
“We are a good time band, we always throw a couple of covers in, ” he said.
“We like people to dance and love a dance ourselves.”
The Stillwater Giants will perform at BREC on Friday for Out of the Box + Into the Cube.
