The appeal is for non-perishable and canned foods which will be collected from houses and schools around the South West onSunday.

The items will be distributed to South Westcharities such as Intown Centre, SalvationArmy and St Vincent de Paul.

Bunbury Leschenault Rotary Club’s successful food drive has been running for 17 years and has collected nearly 200,000 cans of food.

In-town Centre chairman David Bailey said it was appeals like Give a Damn, Give a Can that kept the centre going throughout the year.

‘‘Without this program the In-town Centre would be struggling to provide meals and look after those who need us most,’’MrBailey said.

‘‘Our shelves are nearly bare and we are coming up to our busy time of year so we are in desperate need for canned foods and other non-perishable items.

‘‘Give a Damn, Give a Can shows the exceptional community spirit of people in the Greater Bunbury region.’’
