Glen Muon is region’s best

Bunbury Herald

Students at Glen Huon Primary School are celebrating after their colourful cow creation dubbed Glen Muon was named Best Picasso Cow in the region.

One of 10 life-sized fibre glass bovines decorated by as many primary schools from around the region, the project was part of Dairy Australia’s Picasso Cows initiative.

Targeting primary schools located in dairying regions, the six-week curriculum program aimed to engage students and increase awareness of the Australian dairy industry and its products.

Glen Huon Primary School Principal Carolyn Nankervis said students had been elated to learn of the win.

‘‘To come away with a win was just really exciting — we came back and made the announcement over the PA and all the kids started cheering,’’ she said.

‘‘The other cows were really good and the other schools did a fantastic job, but I think our concept was what won it for us.’’

Art teacher Cass Watling said students from all years at the school had a hand in designing the finished product, which depicted the importance of dairy for a healthy lifestyle.
