Ferguson resident and bus driver Rex Piggott drives children from the area to the two Dardanup primary schools.

As a bit of fun in August he built a much smaller bus, out of leftover steel in his backyard, for the ever-growing Gnomesville about 10 minutes from his house.

Since then it has been part of the children’s daily routine to see the gnome bus, while they are going to school.

But Mr Piggot discovered two weeks ago that the bus had been stolen, with the gnomes inside dumped in a pile on the ground.

He wants the people responsible to return it before school starts in February.

“We knew it could be stolen, ” Mr Piggott said

“But we thought the people in the area respected it, and we hoped it would stay there forever.”

Mr Piggott believes the bus was taken as a prank but he hopes it will be returned in good condition.
