Grinspoon in Bunbury

Bunbury Herald

Although it has played host to a number of great acts over the years, the Prince of Wales Hotel’s reputation as the State’s premier live music venue is to be well and truly cemented with the news Australian rock superstars Grinspoon will play at the pub for the first time in 2013.

The festival favourites and Triple J darlings announced their Black Rabbits tour last week, one which included the band’s first ever Bunbury date.

Lismore boys Phil, Pat, Kristian and Joe burst onto the scene in 1995, enjoying a massive hit with their first album, Guide to Better Living.

Across their career the band has amassed album sales of 500,000 copies in Australia, including multiple platinum certifications and an ARIA award for ‘Best Rock Album’ in 2005 for Thrills, Kills & Sunday Pills.

In September this year they released their seventh studio album, Black Rabbits, which made its ARIA chart debut at No. 8.

It’s only fitting with the release of a new album and now seven Top 10 albums under their belt that the band gets back on the road and tour.

Grinspoon starts off the year with Big Day Out shows across the country in January, where they will treat audiences with a special “All Hits” set, with a few newbies thrown in for good measure, before embarking on the Black Rabbits National Tour.

Black Rabbits promises to be a whole new live experience for fans, offering the longest sets ever played by Grinspoon — a mix of old faves and new tunes from the seventh studio album of the same name.

This is a series of shows not to be missed for old and new Grinspoon fans!

The Black Rabbits tour lands at the Prince of Wales on April 5, 2013.
