Updated 8.45am: Parts of the South Western Highway are closed between Coolup and Yarloop after a truck carrying offal lost its load last night.

A police spokeswoman said motorists started reporting offal was on the road about 9pm.

She said the offal covered about 25km of the highway, however most of the load is around Coolup.

Local businesses helped with the clean up by lending bobcats and trucks to fire and rescue teams who are currently cleaning up the mess.

Alcoa/Wagerup employees can now access Wagerup mine site via Bancell Rd Wagerup via Forrest Hwy, Coronation Rd, southerly on Summers Rd into Bancell Rd to South West Hwy where they will receive instructions from officers.

For other drivers, the South West Hwy between Yarloop and Waroona is closed in both directions all day (6pm).
