Trees were ripped from the ground in Queens Gardens and television antennas were bent in half around Carey Park.

Residents of a home on Waterwitch Street in Carey Park were left tired and shocked after their ceiling collapsed and another home’s patio roof landed in their front yard.

Home owner Mary Dee said the SES had covered her roof at 2.30am but water that had already collected in her roof cavity and caused her ceiling to collapse.

The SES received 32 calls for help from Carey Park.

More than 30 SES volunteers and 20 career and volunteer fire fighters from Bunbury, Australind and Harvey helping repair the damage caused around the South West.

The City of Bunbury has asked people to avoid Twilight Terrace, Waterwitch Way and Armanta Drive in Carey Park while Emergency Crews work to clear the area and repair damage to properties after last night's severe storm.

The city has had reports of motorists sight-seeing in the area which is making it difficult for staff to do their job.

People are asked to only access the area if they are a resident.
