Impressive Force climb to eighth

GEORGE GOODWINBunbury Herald

Jayden Prosser nudged in a 20th minute goal to prove the difference as the Bunbury Forum Force handed coach Trent Hathaway his third Football West Premier League win in four outings at Payne Park on Saturday.

It was a significant moment.

Significant because it lifted the Force to a 1-0 victory over Armadale and up to eighth on the ladder.

Significant because it continued the Force’s rising plane of form.

And most significant for a big turnaround as entertainment for the good crowd in attendance.

The match was meandering in a tight midfield arm wrestle with Armadale slamming long balls to the front with the wind at their backs, forcing Oliver McGee to clear off the line in the 12th minute before a Chris Blackburn shot was well saved by Armadale goalie Ellis Hawksworth.

Prosser’s goal started deep in defence when right back Liam Hutchinson crossed inside to McGee and on to Ryan Risdon lurking wide on the left.

The 2010 first division rising star scurried up the left line and fed the front.

Prosser was denied a second five minutes later when a storming run was stopped by Armadale’s defenders in the danger zone.

Keeper Ryan Montgomery enjoyed one of his best shows between the posts with a series of reflex saves in the 36th minute, including a couple of headlong dives at the marauding Armadale strikers.

From that dull start, the match turned out one of the best seen at home this season with both defences working overtime as forwards attacked.
