Man tasered after breach

Bunbury Herald

Bunbury police tasered a Bunbury man at the weekend after he allegedly twice assaulted police officers who were arresting him for breaching bail conditions.

Police first came into contact with the 32-year-old man after police attended a domestic dispute at Waterloo Village Caravan Park on Saturday at 1.30am Supt Lawrence Panaia said officers issued the man with a police order which stated he could not return to the property.

While officers were arresting the man, Supt Panaia alleged the man kicked a police officer in the elbow.

He was taken back to the police station where he was bailed.

But Supt Panaia said the 32-year-old breached the police order and at 8pm on Saturday police were again called to the caravan park.

When police tried to arrest the man, it is alleged he wrestled and assaulted the officer, which resulted in the officer tearing a ligament in his shoulder.

The second officer at the scene then tasered the man.

He was taken back to Bunbury Police Station where he was charged and kept in custody.

He was charged with disorderly behaviour, two counts of obstructing police, breaching a police order, breaching bail conditions and two counts of assaulting a public officer.

The man was due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court yesterday.
