Many hands make school garden revamp
Volunteers and organisations have donated their time and resources to kick-start the creation of a better front garden at College Row School.
Numerous bollards have been put in around the school’s front garden to protect the grass and sprinkler systems from cars.
The cost of this project would have been too much for the school to bear, so various organisations lent a hand to give the school a boost.
Swan Marine Company, JW Cross and Son, City of Bunbury, Gas It Pipe Contractors and P&C members gave up time and resources to complete the project for the school which caters for children with special needs.
School gardener Brendan Green said the garden would be improved now the bollards were up, making it a spectacular entrance to the school.
“All the volunteers have either donated the timber, cut it to length, drilled the holes or put it in, ” he said.
“It keeps people from parking on our gardens and damaging the sprinklers which will make the garden look better.
“It would have been fairly expensive exercise so it was great to have all the works done free of charge.”
Acting principal John Hanczakowski said the remodelling of the nature reserve presented a much nicer environment for people entering the school grounds.
“To have the bollards in place makes it look attractive and preserve our nature reserve, ” he said.
“It was good to see the community get together for this project.
“We are very grateful.”
