MS group keen to help charity ride

Charity and hobbies met last week when Treendale Gardens Multiple Sclerosis Society donated toys and food to an upcoming charity ride.

Members of the Indian Harley Club of Bunbury — who are doing the Salvation Army Charity Ride this Saturday — visited Treendale Gardens with their motorcycles.

Residents interested in motorcycles were excited by the arrival of the Indian Harley Club members.

They donated nonperishable foods and sealed toys towards the charity ride.

Treendale Gardens care support worker Vivienne McMillian said they were proud to be involved.

“We made a contribution toward this week’s charity ride,’’ she said.

Indian Harley Club president Eric Lawrence said taking the motorcycles to Treendale Gardens was a good way to thank the establishment for their charity.

“It’s a good way to provide people to get near something they’d normally miss — or in this case — something they’re interested in,” he said.

Indian Harley Club member Amanda Bernhardt said the club was appreciative of the donations.

“We’re looking for non-perishable foods, sealed toys and cash donations,” she said.

“Teddy bears and unwrapped toys aren’t really suitable because of the safety risks to the people who receive the goods.”
