After winning the toss and electing to bat the reigning champions compiled 4/78 on Saturday before the heavens opened and drove both teams from the field.

With the traditional second grand final innings abandoned Colts resumed at the crease the following morning and fought its way to 9/187 courtesy of some composed batting from youngsters Tyler Robertson (28), Cruize Ciallella (38), Luke Morien (21) while Ricky Marsh hammered a quick-fire 44 to top score.

Eaton appeared to be cruising to victory in response with Clint Hewson in ominous form before Ciallella triggered a collapse with the wicket of Arron Quartermaine (33) followed not long after by the scalps of Mick Rogers, James Hillery and Stu Clark to leave the Beavers floundering at 6/135.

Michael Norris cleaned up the tail from there, Hewson’s brilliant 75 not enough to lead Eaton to its maiden championship as the Beavers fell 19 runs short of glory.
