Rollover man in critical condition

A spokeswoman for Royal Perth Hospital has confirmed the 26-year-old driver, who rolled his car last night on Mornington Road is in a critical condition.

This morning, Collie Sen. Sgt Rod Boehm said the man, a resident of the Mornington Road Worsley construction workers’ camp, was driving west along Mornington Road, about 10km west of Harris River Road about 11.30pm.

Sen. Sgt Boehm said the man was driving a Toyota LandCruiser ute, with a workmate in the passenger seat, when he drove into the gravel shoulder of the road, then over corrected and rolled the car on the other side of the road.

The man’s car hit a tree and he was thrown 15m from the car.

Police believe the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Sen. Sgt Boehm said the man hit his head on a rock and was unconscious when police arrived.

The passenger received minor injuries.

The driver was taken to Collie Hospital and was later transferred to Bunbury Hospital with serious injuries.

Sen. Sgt Boehm said the 26-year-old was then transferred to Royal Perth Hospital.
