Soccer: Force make shaky start to season

JORDAN McARDLEBunbury Herald

Bunbury Forum Force started their State Premier League campaign with a 3-2 loss to Balcatta at Payne Park.

A double to new Balcatta signing John Thornley and a Daniel Micevski strike made sure the defending champions came away with the three points.

The Premier League newcomers got off to a perfect start with Ghanian striker Bright Abobio finishing an Ollie McGee cross in the 10th minute.

But a positive start soon turned sour with two goals in 15 minutes giving Balcatta a 2-1 advantage at the break.

Thornley's second midway through the second half made things difficult for the Force at 3-1 down.

Midfielder Jamie Tandy gave Bunbury hope after he tapped through an injury-time goal but it was too little too late as the Force went down 3-2.
