Soccer: Force suffer second defeat

JORDAN McARDLEBunbury Herald

Bunbury Forum Force ended their 2012 State League Night Series campaign with a 1-0 loss to Division One side Ashfield in Saturday night’s third place playoff.

A brilliant first half free-kick from Ashfield striker Ryan Frisina was the difference, with the Reds knocking off their third Premier League side of the tournament to secure third place.

It was an inexperienced Force who took the field without key players Ashley Young, Ryan Montgomery, Martin Ryan and Steve Howson.

Despite the loss, Force defender Ollie McGee said it was positive give some youngsters a chance at first team football.

‘‘We played a few new faces on Saturday night so it was good to give them some experience,’’ he said.

‘‘Bright (Abobobi) looked good in the midfield in his first senior match and Michael Hughes defended well.’’

Bunbury will play a practice match this Saturday against South Western Times Premier League club Dynamos.
