St John of God to continue overseeing South West Community Alcohol & Drug Service for next five years

A community alcohol and drug counselling service is set to continue operations throughout the region for at least the next five years. The South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service was recently advised by the WA Mental Health Commission it would continue its operations throughout its locations in the South West including Bunbury, Busselton, Harvey, Manjimup, Collie, Bridgetown and Margaret River. The service has been run by St John of God Health Care for more than 20 years and the new contract extension will extend by another five years, along with an optional extension of a further two years. Operating out of seven locations across the region, SWCADS provides counselling and support for people affected by alcohol and other substance issues. St John of God Social Outreach chief executive Susan Cantwell said St John of God Health Care had a long history of providing hospital and community services and was pleased the not-for-profit organisation would continue to provide those services. “We are proud to be part of the fabric of Bunbury and greater South West community and are delighted to be continuing to support people with alcohol and other drug issues,” she said. “We’ve operated services under this contract for over two decades and the renewal means we can continue to build on our existing services and provide ongoing accessible and high-quality care.”
