A goal with just 60 seconds on the clock from Carey Park forward Clint Garlett was enough to see the Panthers home by the smallest of margins against the Eaton Boomers on Sunday afternoon at Hands Oval.

With neither side able to gain the ascendency for long periods of time in the qualifying final, it was left to a tight last quarter and a Garlett goal to see Carey Park home 7.14 (56) to 7.13 (55).

With a shot at Busselton and a clear path to this year’s grand final on the line, both sides threw everything they had at each other for four quarters of hard football in what was easily one of the games of the year.

Harvey Bulls continued their remarkable late-season surge by winning their first ever South West Football League final on Sunday.

The Bulls beat Augusta-Margaret River 13.7 (85) to 10.12 (72) in a topsy-turvy elimination final at Payne Park to notch their sixth-straight win and extend their season by another week.

David Faulkner kicked five goals and former Subiaco WAFL player Abe Davey added four, with the pair’s scoreboard impact coming at vital times.
