Busselton have survived a scare by the Augusta-Margaret River Hawks to begin their season with a 23 point win, despite a fairly lack-lustre start to the game by both sides.

The Magpies won 12.14 (86) to 9.9 (63), as both sides struggled to take the lead in a game which was marred by simple mistakes.

Meanwhile, a ten goal last half to Carey Park was enough to down a depleted South Bunbury on Saturday night by 39 points.

In perfect conditions under lights, it was former captain Matt Martin who was the hero for the Panthers as he kicked five last quarter goals to take his side to a 13.10 (88) to 7.7 (49) win.

Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault got their season off to a flying start with a convincing 46 point win over Bunbury who bore little resemblance to the Bulldogs of 2014.

The Lions had the greater numbers with league experience and set up their victory when they held the Bulldogs to just 1.1 in the first half while adding 7.5 themselves, to take victory 15.9 (99) to 8.5 (53).

Donnybrook opened their 2015 South West Football League account in commanding style, dominating the first quarter of their clash against the Collie Eagles on Sunday to win by 25 points.

Led by co-captain Curtin Guglielmana, the Dons kicked six goals to just three in an opening term onslaught and held of a fast finishing Eagles to take the four points with a 11.17 (83) to 8.10 (58) win.

Eaton Boomers picked up where they left off last season with a 39-point win over Harvey Bulls when they travelled to Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.

Harvey battled hard throughout the contest, but the reigning premiers ran out 16.9 (105) to 10.6 (66) winners.
