SWFL Results Round 11

BUNBURY HERALDBunbury Herald

An inspired Bunbury produced the upset of the season in outclassing Donnybrook by 40 points at Payne Park on Sunday.

Liam McGuire proved the difference in his first SWFL game of the year, kicking six goals as Bunbury won 14.12 (96) to 7.14 (56).

Busselton edged out Carey Park by five points in a thriller at Sir Stuart Bovell Park in what many saw as a preview to this year’s grand final.

So tight were the defences in the opening term that only a single behind was scored by both teams with the Panthers rolling through on the siren, but were unable to claim victory as the Magpies won 9.10 (64) to 8.11 (59).

A dominant fourth quarter display powered Augusta-Margaret River to a 24-point win over the Collie Eagles at the Collie Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Despite missing a host of opportunities throughout the match, the Hawks claimed a 13.21 (99) to 11.9 (75) win.

The Harvey Bulls ended their three-week loosing streak at the Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday convincingly beating cross-town rivals Harvey-Brunswick Leschenault by 63-points.

The Bulls snared their third derby victory since joining the SWFL in 2009, easily outscoring the Lions 14.13 (97) to 5.4 (34).

Relentless pressure and a fighting last quarter allowed South Bunbury to defeat the Eaton Boomers by 14 points in a shock victory at Hands Oval on Sunday afternoon.

Led by a tough and confident midfield, the Tigers shrugged off a slow start to keep the Eaton Boomers goalless in the third quarter on their way to a 9.6 (60) to 6.10 (46) win.
