SWFL Round 3: Results and highlights

RILEY STUARTBunbury Herald

With just three players from their 2011 South West Football League grand final team on show at the Harvey Recreation Ground, South Bunbury were no match for a bigger, more experienced Harvey Bulls outfit going down 16.7 (103) to 8.14 (62).

Also on Sunday, Eaton crushed Busselton by 102 points in an impressive performance at Glen Huon Reserve.

Playing-coach and key forward Alan McDonald did not take the field due to injury, but he was not needed as the Boomers piled on 24 goals in their 154-50 win.

Bunbury recorded their first win for the season when they defeated cross-town rivals Carey Park by 31 points at Payne Park.

The victory ended the Bulldogs disappointing run of narrow losses in the last couple of seasons and served notice that they loom as definite finals contenders in 2012.

At VC Mitchell Park, Collie kept their unblemished start to the season intact when they eased to a 13.13 (91) to 4.7 (31) win over Donnybrook.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, reigning premiers Augusta-Margaret River notched their first win of the season, defeating Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenautl 12.12 (84) to 9.12 (66) at Gloucester Park.
