SWFL Wrap Up Round 14

BUNBURY HERALDBunbury Herald

Augusta-Margaret River was too good for a young Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenualt side, taking down the Lions by 55 points in a free flowing encounter.

The Hawks kicked eight goals in the first quarter to put the pressure on the Lions from start to finish to win 20.9 (129) to 11.8 (74).

Harvey Bulls kept its faint finals hopes alive with a hard-fought eight-point win over Collie Eagles at Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.

The 10.6 (66) to 8.10 (58) victory keeps the Bulls within two wins of the top five and was a necessary result, even though it was not always pretty.

An exuberant Bunbury Bulldogs outfit fell just 17-points short of causing a major upset against ladder leaders Eaton Boomers at the Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday.

The Bulldogs lead the Boomers by five points at the final break but were unable to maintain their advantage with Eaton storming home to outrun the visitors 11.13 (79) to 9.8 (62).

South Bunbury displayed their developing brand of football when they matched Busselton all over the ground to lead by eight points at half-time at Hands Oval on Saturday night.

But the Magpies overran the Tigers to win by 24 points, finishing the game 13.12 (90) to 10.6 (66).

The game between Donnybrook and Carey Park did not take place out of respect for former player Chris Sheehan who was killed in a trail bike incident on Saturday.

Full match reports in tomorrow's Bunbury Herald.
