SWFL Wrap Up Round 18
Augusta-Margaret River booked their finals berth by outlasting South Bunbury 13.9 (87) to 9.9 (63) at Hands Oval on Saturday evening.
The Hawks had a host of contributors in their 24-point win which secured fourth place and an elimination final against Harvey Bulls.
Donnybrook's fight to stay in finals contention effectively ended early in the second quarter at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday night when Busselton ran out winners by 56 points.
The Magpies dominated the opening quarter with Nathan Bradbury finding space to goal twice but a number of other scoring opportunities were wasted allowing Donnybrook to stay in touch, eventually winning 19.13 (127) to 11.5 (71).
The Collie Eagles helped give outgoing veteran Michael Roney the perfect send-off on Sunday with a 23-point victory over the Bunbury Bulldogs at the Collie Recreation Ground.
The Collie Eagles surged home to emerge 11.12 (78) to 8.7 (55) victors in Roney’s final outing for the club.
The young Lions from Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault have been left languishing near the bottom of the SWFL ladder and on Sunday crashed to the favoured Eaton Boomers by 102 points.
At Glen Huon Reserve, the Eaton Boomers crushed the Lions 21.12 (138) to 5.6 (36) to inflict the biggest defeat on the young Lions this season.
The Harvey Bulls will play in their first SWFL finals series after defeating Carey Park by 49 points at Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.
The Bulls have not played finals since entering the competition in 2009 and needing a win to seal fifth spot on the ladder, the home side lifted to win 15.7 (97) to 7.6 (48).
