Kate Witten rode Be So Ryski to its fourth career win on the weekend as the Bunbury Turf Club returned to a Saturday timeslot.

As a part of a father and daughter team with trainer Robert Witten, Kate and Be So Ryski came from ninth at 800 metres to seventh at the turn before powering home to take the $17,500 SOS Office Equipment Handicap.

It is the fourth win for Be So Ryski at Bunbury Turf Club, with the six-year-old mare having a good record at the track.

Trainer Robert Witten said they had a plan prior to the race and it worked well.

“It was our plan to track on the back of Low Flying as he was the favourite and take our run late which worked, ” he said.

“She was the quality horse of the field, it was her 12th career race and she has not placed in only two races, which shows this.”

Witten said the 1400m distance was good for Be So Ryski but he was not afraid to push the mare further.

“She has started well at 1400m but I won’t hesitate to look at mile-long races, ” he said.

“She ran third to Platinum Rocker at Ascot so we were not worried about the distance.

“She has to go back to Perth actually as there is nothing here for her for a while.

“A start in the Bunbury Stakes is a pipe dream but you never know in this game.”
