Relive the hype and sass of a Rio experience at the Rotary Op Shop Ball, or enjoy some soothing classical tunes at Koombana Sailing club. This week we have everything genre covered.

1. Op Shop Ball

The Rotary Club of Bunbury Leschenault will go to Rio on Saturday night. The group’s annual op-shop ball will be held at South West Italian Club with the Rio theme coinciding with the Olympics host city. Prizes will be available for the best dressed male and female and best decorated table, while auctions, games and fundraising for Sail into Life Bunbury will also feature. 2. YOH Fest

The State’s biggest youth performing arts event will be at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre tonight. Act Belong Commit YOH Fest gives thousands of high school students in WA and Northern Territory the chance to take part in a health-themed arts event.

The annual event allows students to construct and perform a dance, drama or visual art piece about something relevant to health education. It will be held at 6.30pm with tickets available by calling 1300 661 272 or at www.bunburyentertainment.com .

3. Philharmonic concert

Philharmonic South West will put on a concert featuring renowned flautist Sabine Kozlowski. The likes of Mozart, Beethoven and Gershwin will all feature in the music played by the orchestra. David Pye will be conducting the concert, which is taking place at Koombana Bay Sailing Club from 5pm. Tickets are available in advance or at the door for $25.

4. End of Fashion

Bunbury will host one of just six shows in Australia during End of Fashion’s reunion tour. The Perth band has got back together for the 10th anniversary of their self-titled debut album, which produced hits such asO Yeah, The Game andShe’s Love . A special gig in Perth earlier this year inspired the band to play one more mini-tour showcasing the popular album. Thursday night’s show at the Prince of Wales Hotel is also the only one to be held outside a State capital.

5. SWFL preliminary finals

Three will become two in the South West Football League this weekend as the second grand finalist is decided. Hands Oval will host the crucial preliminary final between South Bunbury and Harvey Bulls at 2.20pm on Sunday. The winner will then take on Collie Eagles in next weekend’s decider. Earlier in the day, the Eaton Boomers and Carey Park will meet in the reserves preliminary final and Bunbury will take on South Bunbury in the colts.

6. Soccer cup finals

Australind will host a big day of soccer on Sunday when the South West Soccer Association knockout cup finals are held. Six matches across different grades will be held at Australind Soccer Club’s new home ground. The main match pits traditional Premier League powerhouses Bunbury United and Dynamos against each other at 2.30pm. Action will get under way at 8.30am with the women’s reserves cup final and continue all day.

7. In the Mood

Big band hits will be celebrated in a live show in Bunbury on Sunday night. In the Mood recreates the era of swing through an exciting performance by the String of Pearls Big Band Orchestra.

Excellent choreography, costumes and tunes from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Duke Ellington will all be on display. Tickets to the BREC show can be bought by calling 1300 661 272 or visiting www.bunburyentertainment.com .

8. Unique dance performances

Kaya, meaning Hello, crosses multiple cultures in a unique dance performance. Several indigenous dance cultures combine with the likes of Maori, Indian, classical and western contemporary techniques for a dynamic show. The mix of cultures leads to a vivid and exciting show which will be at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Friday and Saturday.

9. I Hate Hamlet

Bunbury Musical Comedy Group’s latest production opens this week. I Hate Hamlet is a Shakespearean-inspired comedy based on a 1991 Broadway production by Paul Rudnick. It tells the story of a television actor who struggles with the idea of playing the famous character on stage. Shows will be held at 8pm on Friday and Saturday plus 2pm Sunday at the New Lyric Theatre on Bourke Street.

10. Bridget Jones sequel

The anticipated sequel to Bridget Jones’ Diary starts at Grand Cinemas Bunbury on Thursday. In Bridget Jones’ Baby (M), Renee Zellweger’s character and Mark Darcy are no longer a couple.

After the break-up, Bridget decides to spend more time focusing on her career and friends until she meets a charming American played by Patrick Dempsey.
