Thousands pack city for Christmas

There was plenty of colour and atmosphere in Bunbury's central business district as the crowd got into the festive spirit for Christmas in the City on Sunday.

The event started with a festival and markets at Bicentennial Square with families taking part in activities like an art workshop, petting zoo and an obstacle course.

About 50 organisations joined the parade along Victoria Street with colourful characters like Batman and Iron Man taking part - but the biggest star of the show was Father Christmas. The event ended with carols at the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell as the sun set and families joined in classic tunes.

Bunbury City Council events officer Hayley Mazzucchelli said the event was fantastic and she had received positive feedback.

"I think there were between 8000 and 10,000 people but it was hard to gauge with so many bodies," she said.

"It was the first year to combine all of the events but I think it worked out very well and there was a great atmosphere."
