1. Out of the Box

Get ready to head Out of the Box and Into the Cube at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre on Saturday. WA musicians Tired Lion and Silver Hills, and Bunbury band The Jack Resta Trio will entertain the crowd, along with incredible aerial performers from Polercise WA. 2. Open Mic Night

Enjoy some poetry, comedy and song by talented South West performers on Friday night at the Lighthouse Beach Resort Open Mic Nightcaps. Doors open at 7.45pm for an 8pm start with a cash bar. 3. Forest walk

To celebrate 20 years of activity, the Crooked Brook Forest Association is holding a recognition ceremony on Saturday morning in the forest’s picnic area. Activities will include face painting, craft activities, catching live creatures and guided walks. Catch a free bus from Bunbury, Eaton and Dardanup out to the forest to attend the event.

4. Fun-Bury Day

Bring the children down for a fantastic day on Saturday at the Big Swamp Playground. Hosted by charity, Hope Warriors, enjoy a range of activities for children including bouncy castles, rides, craft activities, market stalls, raffles and lucky dips. Be sure to make it down with the children for the activities which run from 10am to 2pm.

5. Freya Hanley

Dance along to renowned independent songstress Freya Hanley on Sunday at the Old Coast Road Brewery. The Melbourne artist has covered significant ground on the Australian independent music scene and her travels have led her to now tour the South West. Catch Hanley at the brewery from 1pm.

6. Catch a movie

Watch the latest blockbuster release to hit the big screen from Thursday, when Dracula Untold begins screening at Grand Cinemas Bunbury. The movie tells the origin of the man who became Dracula. Gary Shore directs and Michael De Luca produces the epic action-adventure that co-stars Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Diarmaid Murtagh and Samantha Barks.

7. Grand final

Cheer on the two best teams from this year’s South West Football League season on Sunday at the grand final. Held at Hands Oval all day Sunday, the colts, reserves and league sides will battle it out for ultimate glory. In the league the top of the table South Bunbury will take on Eaton for the ultimate prize. Bouncedown is at 2.30pm.

8. The Night Zoo

Give the younger members of the family a wonderful introduction to the theatre next Tuesday with The Night Zoo. Jamie (the main character) dreams of making friends with animals, but mum and dad won’t let her have a pet. From Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, Australia’s champion of puppetry, The Night Zoo reminds the audience of the importance of companionship and the joy that can come from making friends with animals.

9. Charity cruise

Cruise the South West for charity on Sunday when The Ulysses Club Bunbury branch hosts a cruise fundraiser starting at the McDonald’s carpark at the Bunbury Forum from 9am. All proceeds will go to Solaris Care in Bunbury. The rally will include motorbikes and classis cars. The cost is $10 a head. For more details call 9791 9994 or 0437 839 457.

10. Art exhibition

Gaze upon the fine artworks in wood with the latest exhibition at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries, Collaborations 2014. The pieces presented have been turned, carved and sculpted into exquisite displays of craftsmanship by the hands of some of Australia’s most prominent fine art wood- workers. The exhibition runs until October 12. The galleries are open 10am-4pm daily.
