With school holidays approaching, it's time to get organised and sign up for some of the great activities which are being run in the South West for kids.

1. Row for Isla

The City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club will host a family fun day this Saturday from 11am to 3pm to raise money for Telethon. The Row for Isla fundraising event is run by Gemma and Kris Collins in honour of their eight-month-old daughter, Isla, who died in Princess Margaret Hospital in 2010. There will be a bouncy castle, treasure hunt, a big bake sale, sausage sizzle, raffles, auctions, face painting and more. The AFL Grand Final will also be on the big screen. Entry is $10. Tickets are limited.

2. Backstage fun

South West youths looking for something fun to do after school tomorrow can come backstage at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre from 4.30pm for an hour of fun. Grab your mates, chill out with some video games on the big screen, enjoy a performance by Bunbury Catholic College band Berry Island and eat some yummy pizza. This event is free and open to anyone under 25.

3. Hip-hop workshop

Registrations close tomorrow for Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre’s RESPECT hip-hop workshops with rapper MC Optamus, of hip-hop kings Downsyde. The awesome workshops will run over the first week of the school holidays and will culminate with a support act performance at the Optamus gig on October 5. The workshops are open to people aged 12-17. The $70 cost covers all workshops, rehearsals and a ticket to see the show. Visit www.bunburyentertainment.com for information or to register.

4. Art show

See a wonderful array of work by Victorian artist Ann Smith at an exhibition of her work at Vineyard 28 on Bagieau Road in Harvey. It opens on Saturday and runs until Tuesday. Smith, whose first love is painting with pastels, also makes art with wool and textiles. For more information call 9733 5605.

5. Fashion parade

The Australind Seniors Citizens Club will hold a Fashion Parade this Thursday at 10am at the Seniors Citizens Club on Mardo Avenue. The garments on show are by Elouise Fashions. The Plaza Shopping Centre will be featured as well as raffles, stalls and morning teas. Entry costs $8 and all proceeds will go to Relay for Life, raising funds for Cancer Council WA. 6. Nordic walking

The South West Nordic Walking Group named Recharge meets every Thursday at 9.30am at different locations around Bunbury. This week the group will meet at the Tuart Walk on the corner of Ocean Drive and Moselle Avenue. A $5 fee covers the hire of the Nordic poles and morning tea. 7. Print exhibition

Work by first-rate photographers from the Australian Photographic Society has been put on show in Bunbury to coincide with the society’s 38th national convention. The National Print Exhibition will be on display at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries until October 13. The exhibition showcases a wide range of styles and subject matter. There are images ranging from bull riders captured in highspeed to tranquil landscapes. BRAG is open daily from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.

8. High jinx film

Keep the kids entertained during the school holidays by going to see Disney’s newest animated film, Planes. Dusty is the crop dusting plane who dreams of competing in a famous aerial race but he is hopelessly afraid of heights. How does he overcome his fear? Planes opens this Thursday at Bunbury’s Grand Cinemas.

9. Holiday activities

The Dolphin Discovery Centre’s school holiday program begins on Monday with a range of activities for children aged five to 12. Participants will be fully supervised and learn plenty about marine life. Activities include feeding, beach exploration and aquarium tours. There will also be games and marine-themed art and craft. The cost is $15 for half a day or $28 for a full day. For more information contact 9791 3088.

10. Unleashed!

Don't forget to register for the City of Bunbury’s school holiday activities as part of the Unleashed! program. Children and teens between the ages of 10 and 17 can take part in a range of events including a trip to the IGA Royal Show, a circus workshop and a pool party at the South West Sports Centre.
