1 Sunday Cinema

International Sunday Cinema returns to Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre for October with the Hungarian drama The Door. Academy Award-winning actress Helen Mirren stars in the story of two isolated women each distanced from their respective worlds by vastly different circums tances, who forge an unlikely friendship over the course of their lifetimes. 2 Orchestra

Attilla Sautov and TheMueller International Chamber Orchestra will play pieces by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Brahms among others. Appearing at St Boniface Cathedral, Parkfield Street, Bunbury from 7.30pm on Wednesday. Tickets are available at Vibrations Music, 100 Spencer Street, Bunbury. 3 Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is happening at World Kitchen, Cobblestone Drive, this Friday starting at 6pm. Listen to a live six-piece Oompah band playing all night. 4 Star gazing

The Astronomical Society will open the doors to the observatory to the public this weekend for a few sessions of star gazing.Weather permitting, the observatory will be open from 7pm on Friday through to Sunday. 5 Exhibition

Act Belong Commit’s Fire, Fibre & Fine Arts Exhibition will be held at the Stirling Street Arts Centre, Stirling Street, Bunbury from 10am to 4pm Friday through to Sunday. 6 Blues

7 Circus time

Make time to soak up the atmosphere and colour at Circus Royale starting tomorrow. All the usual circus delights and much more. Apparently bad guys did not get the memo: don’t mess with Liam Neeson. In Taken 2, sequel to the 2008 film Taken, this time it is Bryan Mills (Neeson) and his wife that are taken hostage. And they are in Istanbul this time, not Paris. Bryan soon discovers that his kidnapping is payback by the father of a man he killed while rescuing his daughter in the last film. 9 Mental

Live wire Shaz (Toni Collette) becomes a nanny to five girls after politician Barry (Anthony LaPaglia) has his wife Shirley (Rebecca Gibney) committed to a mental institution after she suffers from a nervous breakdown. Watch the antics as they unfold in this dramatic comedy. This Australian film is just over two hours long and is rated MA. 10 Grand Final

Football fans are expected to pack into Hands Oval this Sunday for the SWFL grand final between the Collie Eagles and Busselton. More than 1700 people watched the Magpies defeat Bunbury at the weekend to qualify for this Sunday’s decider and it is anticipated another big crowd will be in attendance when the match begins at 2.30pm. Grand finals for all three grades will be held on Sunday. The Colts game begins at 9.30am and the Reserves fixture gets under way from 11.50am.
