1. Outdoor movies

St Aidan Wines will play host to the f irst of four outdoor movie nights, playing The Sapphires this Friday. This Australian film stars Jessica Mauboy and Deborah Mailman as two of four young Aboriginal women who fly to Vietnam to entertain the US troops. The movie will be showing at the winery on 754 Ferguson Road, Ferguson Valley. Patrons are encouraged to bring low lawn chairs when the doors open at 5.30pm. Tickets are adults $15 and children $7 and wine, beer and cool drinks are for sale (no BYO). Call 9728 3007 for more information.

2. Charity Ride

The Salvation Army Charity Ride will start in Capel or Dalyellup on Saturday, depending on how far motorcyclists and scooter-riders think they can travel. Participants are encouraged to bring a sealed toy, non-perishable foods or cash donations to donate towards the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal. The ride will begin at 10am from the Capel car park on Roe Road and will pick people up from the Lakeside car park in Dalyellup at about 10.30am. The ride will finish at the No. 4 car park across from Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

3. Ice a cake

The South West branch of the Cake Decorating Association will hold a session on learning how to ice and decorate a cake. It will be held at the Salvation Army Hall on Timperley Road, Bunbury on Saturday from 10am. Contact Sandra on 9796 1153 for more information.

4. Concert

Enjoy the varied sounds of a Celtic band, a choir and soloists as they begin their Bunbury Catholic College Summer Tour concert party. The event will be held at the Capel Vale Wines vineyard from 4.30pm-6.45pm on Sunday. Gates open at 3.30pm and tickets are $15, with no BYO food or drinks. 5. On Parade

Enjoy the last of three On Parade events today at Australind Senior Citizens from 2pm for afternoon tea. On Parade celebrates all things 1940s, with music from the era and comedy skits from Dad’s Army and Allo Allo. The day is presented by Sassy Variety and is being held at 8 Mardo Avenue, Australind. Tickets for the afternoon tea are $15.

6. Christmas Shop

The annual Christmas Shop exhibition will be held at the lower gallery of Bunbury Regional Art Galleries from Friday until January 20. The exhibition showcases the contribution of artists, craft workers and designers to visual arts in the South West. More than 30 artists have been chosen for this year’s showcase – exhibiting a range of ceramics, jewellery, painting, photography and works on paper. The Galleries are open every day from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free.

7. Boyanup carols

Join in on a Community Carols by Candlelight at Boyanup Primary School next Monday from 7pm. All proceeds from this community event will go towards Bunbury SolarisCare for cancer patient care. Refreshments will be available and battery-powered candles can be purchased for a gold coin donation. People are encouraged to bring low-lying chairs or rugs.

8. Workshop

An advent workshop will be held at St Augustine’s Uniting Church on Saturday for children aged 5-12. They will be able to enjoy a range of crafts, games, stories, drama, songs, friendship and fun. Morning and afternoon tea and lunch included. Call Alison on 0418 834 934 for more information.

9. Boom

Here Comes the Boom tells the story of former wrestler turned teacher Scott Voss (Kevin James) as he tries to raise money for his school by moonlighting as a mixed martial artist. As he does better and better, the school starts to rally behind him. Funny man James is joined by Salma Hayek as the school nurse. 10. Pitch Perfect
