Touring brings joy to Emperors
Indie rock band Emperors will be performing at the Prince of Wales Hotel on Saturday as part of their first national tour.
Hailing from Perth, the band won Triple J Unearthed last year and performed at the Big Day Out.
Since then the band has made its debut EP Sam and has been busy touring around Australia.
This year they have been nominated in the WAMI awards for best rock act which be announced May 28.
The South Western Times spoke to guitarist Greg Sanders about performing in Bunbury.
"It’s our last show of the tour and it’s a nice way to finish in Bunbury after touring around Australia," he said.
Emperors have performed at the Prince of Wales Hotel before and loved the atmosphere they got from Bunbury fans.
"It’s a lot of fun performing at the Prince as there is a lot of friendly local keen people ready for rock 'n' roll," Sanders said.
The band is in the middle of creating its demo album and Sanders have an insight into how the band got inspired.
‘‘Singer Adam and I, we sit in front of the computer and record and write using pro tools. Then after that we head to the band room and Zoe and Dane add to it,’’ he said.
Sanders said the best part about trekking around Australia was experiencing different aspects of the country.
"One of the big joys of travel is seeing parts of Australia you wouldn’t normally see," he said.
The band members are very passionate about their music and Sanders could not explain why he loves performing.
"I think with most musicians we are just drawn into the music, we are not in it for money," he said.
