The fascinating historical sites of the South West are now on show in a revamped display at the Bunbury Visitors Centre.

The Working Life Heritage Trail was officially reopened on Friday by South West MLC Colin Holt, with the aim of inspiring people to map out a journey to the region’s attractions.

Working Life suggests a self-drive route between 23 attractions which tell how the region was shaped by its workers.

Attractions along the trail include Yarloop Workshops, Wellington Dam, Manjimup Timber and Heritage Park, Busselton Jetty and the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.

South West Development Commission chief executive officer Don Punch said the popular heritage trail was now in its 15th year of operation.

“We are pleased to see the trail is still going strong and evolving as more attractions are added, ” he said.

“Following the trail is a terrific way for people to get to know the region and learn more about its fascinating history and rich culture.

“If you have an interest in heritage, we encourage you to visit the display at the Bunbury Visitor Centre to get a taste of what the trail has to offer.”

The Working Life trail was built in 1999 as a partnership between South West Development Commission and the South West Working Life Association.
