Van Dijk lifts Black to victory

Nat van Dijk drained 29 points to lead Tornadoes Black to a 78-69 victory over Bulls Maroon in the Bunbury Basketball Association on Friday night.

The sharpshooter fired seven three-pointers as part of the glittering performance.

His Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers teammate Trent Worthington finished the night with 23 points for Maroon but it wasn’t enough.

Jason Smith (13) and Ryan Smith (15) chimed in for Black while Maroon’s Paddy Phillips (18) and Nathan Berryman (11) were solid contributors.

Busselton notched its first victory of the season, downing Tornadoes Red 62-46.

Dylan Ness (12), Damian Lee (12) and Ethan Bowman (10) did most of the damage for the Bullets.

Jay Jamieson scored 13 points for Tornadoes while Mark Semmter hit 10.

Three-point specialist Wade Hitchcock hit nine triples as partof a 41-point haul as Aces Navy destroyed Tornadoes Grey 105-44.

While Hitchcock led the scoring, Cory Richardson (29) and Mitch Keller (25) provided good support for Navy.

Joel McKay scored 10 points for Grey.

Aces White crushed Bulls Gold by 40 points with Maddison Chatwin (17 points), Lee Smith (14) and Jordan Sears (14) all leaving a mark on 85-45 victory for White.

Bradley Fiori scored 17 points for Bulls Gold.

Meanwhile, in women’s action Tornadoes Black defeated Bulls 44-34 with Susan Fuhrmann scoring a gamehigh 14 points for the winning team.

Shannon McRobert hit 14 points for Black.

Kirsty Bock scored 17 points to help Aces White down clubmates Aces Blue 48-37.

She received strong support from Cassady Anderson, who hit 12 points.

For Blue, Maddy Sayer top scored with 13 points while Chelsea Slater (12) also had an impact.
