The team of 22 youngsters took out gold after participating in individual, partner, group and endurance events in front of judges from the Heart Foundation.

The registered Jump Rope for Heart team has been skipping its way to success since forming 1985 under the watchful eye of former coach Paul Coffey.

Coach Jenny Goodman said places on the teamwere ‘‘hotly contested’’ by the students who were continuing the Ripper Skipper tradition.

‘‘The team members are from Years 4 to 7,’’ Mrs Goodman said.

‘‘There was 75 kids that tried out for seven positions.’’

The team travels around the South West demonstrating skipping to other schools and fundraising for Jump Rope for Heart.

‘‘They are an amazing bunch of students who are very enthusiastic and have support from the school and their parents,’’ Mrs Goodman said.

‘‘A special mention has to go to Phil Allen who is also a coach and bus driver.’’
