Your chance to stop and smell the roses

Bunbury Herald

People will be able to see and smell the stunning blooms from hundreds of different roses on November 3 and 4 at the Stirling Street Arts Centre in East Bunbury.

The South West Rose Society is expecting 200 - 300 entries in its annual show which is a chance for green thumbs to inspire others with beautiful blooms plus floral artwork.

Society president Jillian Plester said highlights of the 10th annual event would include the enormous range of different rose varieties, along with experienced rose-growers on hand to help with any questions.

The floral art section has four categories - wedding, travel memories, song or movie title, and Olympic theme so there are bound to be some creative works on show.

Local schools have also been invi ted to get involved, with a scarecrow-making competition injecting some extra fun into the show.

Bunbury MLA John Castrilli is sponsoring the event and said it was a great opportunity for people to get inspiration for their own gardens.

The show will be open to the public from 12noon to 5pm on Saturday November 3, and 9am to 4pm on the Sunday.

Entry is $3 for adults and free for children.
