Award lays sturdy foundation to career
A second year bricklaying apprentice was recently named the best performing bricklaying apprentice in the South West region.
Timothy Pratt took home the award at the 2020 Master Builders Association WA Building Excellence awards held on June 25.
The 19-year-old Uduc-based apprentice works between Harvey and Dunsborough and said he was honoured to be recognised for his hard work and determination to learn the skills of the trade.
“I’m excited for what the future will bring as a fully qualified tradesperson,” Mr Pratt said.
“It’s always been important to me that I put in the hard work, and learn as much as I can now, before I graduate.
“This apprenticeship has been a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best in the industry and develop the right skills to eventually operate as a solo bricklayer or as part of a team.”
Mr Pratt is completing his apprenticeship through ABN training.
“We invest so heavily in training the future generation, because the building industry rely on access to the best quality tradespeople,” ABN group managing director Dale Alcock said.
“The effort that Tim has put into his work is outstanding.
“It’s a huge achievement and Tim should be very proud of what he has accomplished.”
Mr Pratt has also been nominated for the 2020 Housing Industry Association Apprentice Awards.
