BDCA 2022-23: Marist look to rise to challenge against undefeated Donnybrook
After recording an upset victory in their return from the Christmas and New Year break, Marist will be looking to start a winning streak and potentially break Donnybrook’s undefeated run.
Marist and Donnybrook are set to go head to head in the ninth round of the Bunbury & Districts Cricket Association’s Women’s 2022-23 competition this Saturday at Forrest Park.
Marist will be looking to continue their strong form coming off the back of an upset victory over Colts during the first round since the mid-season break last weekend.
They are in third place on the ladder with three wins and three losses.
While their strong approach in bowling and fielding helped them along their way to keeping Colts to 7-74 last weekend and they showed plenty of determination to scrape through to finish on 9-76, Marist will have a tough challenge ahead against Donnybrook.
The Dons are first on the ladder with a seven-game undefeated streak after their win over Leschenault last weekend.
With big hitters including the likes of Stephanie Jolly and Ashleigh Towers, Donnybrook’s batters will be tough to crack.
The last time Marist and Donnybrook went head to head was in round seven, when Donnybrook claimed victory 3-110 to 6-78.
Leschenault will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s loss to Donnybrook when they go up against Colts on home turf.
Despite managing to achieve a few early wickets against Donnybrook last weekend, Leschenault ultimately fell to the Dons’ strong fielding.
The Colts managed to maintain second place on the ladder with a 5-2 record and will be keen to bounce back from a slip in form.
The last time Leschenault and Colts faced each other was in round one, when Colts dominated the field to win 5-113 to 4-77.
In the Women’s B-grade competition, Burekup will host Hay Park, Eaton will face off against Leschenault 2 and Dalyellup will have a week’s rest.
