BSBL: Tornadoes Red to take on Aces Sky in another table-topping women’s clash

Tornadoes Red will face another top-of-the-table Bunbury Senior Basketball League women’s A-grade clash at South West Sports Centre on Friday night, this time against Aces Sky. Red recorded a 15-point win over then first-placed Bulls Gold last week but remain in second after third-placed Sky jumped into first with a 31-point win over Conquerors. In that game, Aces Sky took the win thanks to a strong third quarter. The two sides were split by only nine points at half-time but the margin blew out to 23 at three-quarter-time. Addison Edwards was the game’s top scorer with 30 points while Zahli Dewar bagged 23. Tornadoes Red and Aces Sky played out an overtime thriller in their clash earlier in the season, which Sky eventually won by a solitary point. Sky sit atop the table with a 4-2 win-loss record, ahead of Red, who have played one fewer game but have the same number of wins, on percentage. Tornadoes Black will take on Conquerors in the other fixture. In the men’s A-grade games, the two Bulls sides who occupy the top two spots on the ladder will come up against the third and fourth-placed Tornadoes teams, with ladder leaders Bulls Gold taking on fourth-placed Tornadoes Red and second-placed Bulls Grey playing third-placed Tornadoes Black. The other contests will see Bulls Maroon will come up against Conquerors and Aces White play Eaton Eagles. Last week, all three Bulls teams brought up big wins in the A grade, with Gold cementing their position in top spot showing why they are still the team to beat with a commanding 123-94 win against Aces Sky. The eventual victors were in control for most of the match, taking a 20-point lead into half-time before pushing it out further in the second half. League top scorer Tanner Vogel again proved his value to the side with an impressive 50 points. Bulls Gold (women’s) and Aces Sky (men’s) have a bye.
