An inspirational young Dardanup student and a group of his mates have shaved their heads in a touching tribute to his late father.

Josh Fiorenza, his good friend Xavier Congdon and a group of their Our Lady of Lourdes Dardanup classmates parted with their locks in front of a big crowd at Carramar Park on Friday.

The group of Year 6 students have raised a massive $10,000 for cancer research, but also paid tribute to Josh’s father Joe, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.

Josh said his father was a “great guy” who “just loved everything”, especially cars.

“If he was here he would be going off his rocker,” he said.

“When I was five he got stomach cancer and he had to get his stomach removed in a big surgery.

“I love my Dad and I love my friends and I am doing this because it makes me feel like he is with me.

“I know that this hair is going to someone like my dad who doesn’t have hair, and needs it straight away.”
