RAC calls for nominations from South West road users to identify the most dangerous roads in the region

A leading road safety organisation is calling for nominations for WA’s most dangerous roads as part of their bid to improve road safety across the state. The RAC is calling for drivers to take part in the state-wide survey, which asks all road users to submit the roads or intersections they believe are dangerous in Perth and regional WA. It comes as sections along Bussell Highway has been continuously ranked as one of WA’s riskiest roads, with the intersection near Capel taking out the top spot in 2019. RAC General Manager External Relations Will Golsby said the survey is an opportunity for the community to be heard on road safety issues in the South West. “No one knows our roads better than the people who drive, ride, walk or cycle on them every day, and we all have that particular street or intersection that makes us feel nervous or unsafe,” Mr Golsby said.“Whether it’s a local street where the speed limit is too fast, a highway with narrow lanes, or an intersection with little chance for pedestrians to cross, we want you to tell us where these dangerous spots are.” Last year, WA recorded its highest number of road fatalities in five years, with 166 people killed on our roads. Nominations are encouraged from all road users including drivers, motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians.
