SWFL womens 2022: Carey Park keep narrow finals chance alive with win over Eaton Boomers
The Carey Park Panthers have kept their slim finals hopes alive with a 19-point win over the Eaton Boomers at Glen Huon Reserve.
The Panthers were dominant over the Boomers all day and could have piled on an impressive score against the home side, but inaccurate goal kicking saw them take the win 5.12 (42) to 3.5 (23).
Goals from Lana Bennett, Karinda Farrant, Kate Fielding, Chloe Pumphrey and Jeanette Reimers were enough to help the side kick a winning score in the end to move to 28 points in fifth spot on the ladder.
Gloria Humphries, Kira Price and Jessica Ruland all booted majors for the home side, who sit in second-last on the ladder with 12 points.
Halle Phillips had one of her best games for the year for the Panthers, combining with Holly Bilcich, Bennett, Louise Bignell, Annakey Pumphrey and Kandice Hart who all played starring roles.
Eaton star player and captain Trinity Brown did all she could to will her team across the line once again, with Price, Ruland, Humphries, Sophie Oldfield and Kiarni Stevens also doing their bit.
The Panthers now trail fourth-placed Donnybrook by eight points on the ladder, but streets behind in percentage.
Carey Park will need to win their remaining two games against the third-placed Harvey Bulls and the Dons by huge margins in order to qualify for finals in 2022.
